JULES RIMET TROPHY - A PIECE OF HISTORY

The Jules Rimet Trophy has a very special significance to the Football World and also to the greatest team in Football History, the 1970 World Cup Champions, Brasil. Not only was this the last time that this trophy was used to honor the Champions, but it was presented to Brasil permanently, after they won the World Cup Championship for the third time. The original Jules Rimet Trophy was subsequently stolen shortly after the 1970 World Cup Finals in Mexico and was never recovered. The Jules Rimet Trophy was also a beautiful piece of art. Elegant and truly unique, it was the most sought after piece of historical hardware, ever. Carlos Alberto Torres is the last Captain to hoist the original Jules Rimet Trophy.

Carlos Alberto Torres is the Captain of this wonderful Brasil side that captured the hearts and imagination of football fans worldwide. He is Pele’s Captain. In Brasil, Carlos Alberto is a National Treasure known affectionately as “Capitao do Tri”, which translates to “Captain of the Third”. Who can forget the magnificent fourth goal that Carlos Alberto scored in the World Cup Final Match against Italy, voted as the greatest goal of all times. It’s the highlight footage most often used, to represent the intensity and majesty of the World Cup Championships and its glorious history.
